Shanghai Haiwan National Forest Park was initially established in May 1999, covering an area of 1065.1 hectares (16000 acres), with an east-west length of 5.3 kilometers and a north-south width of 2 kilometers. It is the third 4A-level national forest park in Shanghai, in addition to "Sheshan National Forest Park" and "Dongping National Forest Park."
Shanghai Haiwan National Forest Park is a large-scale artificial urban ecological forest park within the scope of Shanghai, characterized by its extensive area, diverse vegetation species, high canopy density, and good air quality. The park shapes the urban ecological landscape, implements the trend of scientific development, fully showcases Shanghai's coastal beauty, dynamic resource advantages, and locational advantages, and has tremendous potential for developing comprehensive and diversified cultural tourism of forests. The park's leisure campsite allows visitors to enjoy the forest water world, paddleboarding, kayaking, rainbow platform boats, and canoeing, bringing you close to a different summer forest in the magic city. The Educated Youth Guesthouse takes you back to memories of youth, strolling through the green forest lotus pond, and savoring rural delicacies.
