上海滨江森林公园
Binjiang Forest Park is located at the northwest end of Gaoqiao Town in Pudong, facing the Paotaiwan Wetland Forest Park across the river at the mouth of Wusong. The park is quite large, with lush trees and a variety of flowering plants during the blooming season. Compared to other parks in the city, it is less crowded, making it an ideal place for leisurely walks, cycling, or setting up a tent for a restful break. As the confluence of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River, visitors can sit by the river and watch the passing ships or enjoy the beautiful sunset, basking in the pleasant atmosphere.
The park is designed with a focus on plant landscaping, showcasing the ornamental value of plants and creating various distinctive plant-themed scenic areas within the park: such as the Magnolia Garden featuring magnolias and michelias, the Rose Garden with crabapples and cherry blossoms, the Rhododendron Garden with azaleas, and the rare wetland botanical garden in Shanghai... The nearly 100-acre Rhododendron Garden has planted over twenty varieties and more than 5,000 azaleas, including spring azaleas, hairy azaleas, summer azaleas, and alpine azaleas, which bloom from April to June each year.
It is convenient to drive from the city center, with the park almost reachable after crossing the Huangpu River on the outer ring road. Taking public transportation is also not far. Once inside the park, visitors can walk, rent bicycles, or take a convenient electric cart, which costs 10 yuan per person for a loop around the park with three stops to get off and explore before catching the next cart to the next stop.
Upon entering the park, there are large lawns where visitors can bring tents to camp and sunbathe, or play frisbee and fly kites with children. Kites are available for purchase at the park entrance at reasonable prices. The park also has a barbecue area where friends can gather and rent a grill. The standard grill is 80 yuan for two hours (including charcoal), and while food is available for sale, it is more expensive, so it is recommended to bring your own ingredients.
Walking along the main road, visitors will find dense ecological forests, wetlands, and ornamental plant areas. Strolling through the quiet forest boardwalks in summer is refreshing, and the wetlands offer views of lotus flowers and other wetland plants. In April, the park's azaleas and poppies bloom beautifully, with many varieties, making it an excellent time for flower appreciation and photography.
The main road leads to a viewing platform where visitors can sit on chairs by the river, enjoying the blend of water and sky, the passing ships, and the refreshing river breeze. Setting up a tripod to capture the sunset in the evening can be rewarding. Additionally, the park offers children's bumper cars, electric boats, and live CS games.
The park has a restaurant and snack bars, with prices slightly higher than outside but still acceptable. If not barbecuing, visitors can bring snacks for sustenance.
