上海动物园
The Shanghai Zoo covers an area of approximately 74 hectares and houses over 470 species of rare and precious wild animals, totaling more than 5,000 individuals. Among them are the world-famous giant pandas, known as the "national treasure" and a "living fossil," as well as other rare species unique to China, such as the golden snub-nosed monkey, South China tiger, and Chinese alligator. The zoo also features representative animals from around the world, including gorillas, African lions, giraffes, polar bears, kangaroos, and South American tapirs.
Rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction, the Shanghai Zoo is home to over 400 species of trees, more than 100,000 individual plants, and especially boasts 100,000 square meters of fresh and open lawns. Each greenery and landscape design within the zoo is integrated with the animals' natural habitats. Particularly at Swan Lake, the area is surrounded by reeds and shaded by green trees, with flocks of pelicans and geese often flying in formation across the blue sky, presenting a beautiful and robust scene.
Since its opening, the Shanghai Zoo has evolved from a simple place for visits and sightseeing to a comprehensive park with four main functions: entertainment and leisure, animal knowledge popularization, scientific research, and wildlife conservation. The zoo has welcomed nearly 160 million visitors to date.
