Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is located adjacent to the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower, offering visitors the opportunity to admire a diverse range of freshwater and marine species from around the world, as well as engaging animal performances. The aquarium's four underwater tunnels are particularly popular, allowing visitors to walk through and observe sharks, sea turtles, and other marine creatures swimming overhead, providing an unobstructed view of the enchanting underwater world.

In addition to unique fish species such as the Australian射水鱼 (Archerfish), African多鳍鱼 (Fanfin Fish), Southeast Asian White Axehead Sharks, South American Electric Eels, and Giant Arapaimas, the aquarium also houses precious animals like the Spot Seal, Antarctic Penguins, and Chinese Alligator, as well as adorable seahorses, and the aquarium's prized exhibits—the Weedy Sea Dragon and Ribboned Sea Dragon.

The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is also the only aquarium in the world with a dedicated Chinese展区 to showcase aquatic species unique to China, including many national protected animals such as the Chinese Sturgeon and Chinese Alligator.

Furthermore, the "Special Exhibition Area" features thematic science exhibitions on various species, aiming to deepen understanding of marine life and enhance awareness of marine conservation. Particularly for young people, the "Marine Classroom" offers a wealth of marine educational knowledge.
